Green Infrastructure Ontario Coalition
Green Infrastructure Ontario (GIO) Coalition is an alliance of organizations that share a common vision for a healthy, green Ontario where the economic, social, environmental and health benefits of green infrastructure are fully realized. LEAF is a founding member of the steering committee and lead partner on the Trillium grant which supports this project. Our goal is to ensure that provincial policies and funding strategies support the protection, maintenance and enhancement of living green infrastructure (urban forests, green roofs, green walls, stormwater ponds, etc.) in urban areas. One of the projects GIO is involved with is encouraging the provincial government to take action on creating a Great Lakes Act through GreenProsperity.ca. Other founding partners include:
- Green Roofs for Healthy Cities
- Toronto and Region Conservation
- Landscape Ontario Horticultural Trades Association
- Ontario Parks Association
- Evergreen
