A little holiday cheer

Our Urban Forest Demonstration Gardens (UFDGs) offer an amazing opportunity to enhance our urban forest and beautify available green spaces across Toronto. They have created partnerships amongst organizations and fostered a sense of communal ownership around our natural areas. Our garden at Spadina Station – Walmer Exit has been a perfect example of seeing these opportunities in action.

Engaging Communities

Starting your own urban forest initiative – or any community initiative for that matter – can be a rewarding learning process. Working with LEAF’s stewardship programs, I regularly get to hear about the amazing initiatives our Tree Tenders Volunteer Training Program graduates and like-minded individuals start up.

The final tour of 2011

The last tree tour of the season couldn’t have been a better one and I was happy to be the one leading it. It’s so great that Councillors like Mary-Margaret McMahon have shown support for the urban forest by organizing relevant events – including the Upper Beaches Fall Tour!
