Buzz-worthy News! #BeesLoveTrees

Trees are more than shade providing oxygen factories. They are important habitat for native bees. The mutual love between bees and trees goes way back – even before the birds and the bees were a thing!

From now until October we will be working in partnership with Ontario Power Generation to highlight native trees and shrubs that provide essential habitat for native bees. When we think of supporting bees, we often think of planting flowering annuals and perennials.  But trees and shrubs also flower, and they can produce hundreds of pollen-laden flowers on just one plant!

So follow us on our social media channels as we share why #BeesLoveTrees.  Each week we’ll share some buzz-worthy facts and every month we’ll share a blog highlighting species that are just the bee’s knees! Don’t forget to join the conversation by using #BeesLoveTrees

Want to see some of those important tree and shrub species in person?  We’ll be hosting several pop-up events at our Urban Forest Demonstration Gardens this summer.  Take a mini-garden tour and ask your bee and tree questions.  Follow us on Twitter @leaf, sign up for our free e-newsletter and check our Let It Bee web page for announcements about the pop-ups!

The #BeesLoveTrees campaign is supported by the Ontario Power Generation Regional Biodiversity Program.
