How to Join:
How People of all ages are welcome to join our Community Planting Events as participants (no previous training is required). People over the age of 18 can become more involved with LEAF by attending a volunteer orientation and have access to even more volunteer opportunities to support our mission.

1. Attend a Volunteer Orientation

2. Register for Volunteer Opportunities
After the orientation, you can join LEAF’s Volunteer Callout email list to:
- Find out about new volunteer opportunities.
- Register for the opportunities you’re interested in.
3. Participate in Volunteer Activities

Volunteer Opportunities
Here are several key ways volunteers help advance LEAF's mission!

Community Tree Planting and Stewardship
- Assist by planting and mulching native trees and shrubs
- Experienced volunteers can assist with training and quality control
- Planting events take place in spring (April - June) and fall (September - October) in York Region and Durham Region
- Note: Individuals of all ages can register as participants for our community planting event (children under 16 must be accompanied by an adult)

Garden Steward Teams
- Care for one of our Urban Forest Demonstration Gardens, located across Toronto, from April to November
- Tasks may include watering, weeding, litter pick-up and more!
- Attend additional training session and workshops

Community Outreach and Education
- Represent LEAF at community events and connect with people about the Urban Forest and LEAF’s work
- Share your tree knowledge and inspire others to take action
- Attend additional training session

Other Ways to Volunteer
- Contribute content to our blog and newsletter
- Capture photos and video of LEAF programs and events
- Assist with administrative tasks
