Additional Savings and Incentives
In some areas where our services are offered, we have additional funding to further subsidize our program! The following is a summary of these additional planting incentives.
Toronto Low-Canopy Incentive:
Toronto residents in eligible low-canopy, equity-deserving neighbourhoods qualify for free trees and shrubs. This incentive aims to increase access to planting services in low-canopy neighbourhoods to address inequalities in canopy cover across the city. Residential properties receive one free tree OR two free cedars OR one free pair of pawpaw trees and up to three free shrubs and multi-unit & business properties receive two free trees OR four free cedars and five free shrubs per property per year (space permitting). First come, first served.
Markham Discount:
Endorsed by Markham's Trees for Tomorrow initiative, Markham residents pay only $100 for deciduous trees and $50 for evergreen trees, from a select list of eligible species. Limit of five trees per property per year (space permitting). First come, first served.
Newmarket Rebate:
Newmarket residents receive an additional $100 rebate when planting a tree on their property. Business properties do not qualify. Limit of one rebate per property per year (space permitting). First come, first served.
Ajax Rebate:
Ajax residents receive an additional $150 rebate through the Full Service Planting Program and the Multi-Unit, Commercial & Institutional Planting Program or a $100 rebate through the Do-It-Yourself Planting Program for planting a tree on their property. Limit of one rebate per property per year (space permitting). First come, first served.
Species Offered
LEAF offers a variety of tree and shrub species native to southern Ontario. We’re here to help you choose species that will do best based on your property’s conditions.
*Please note that availability may vary seasonally and not all species will be suitable for the sun, soil and space conditions of your property.
