It’s a fun event where many community and nature-focussed organizations, along with artists, musicians, local residents and children come together to learn about trees, plants, shrubs and the many benefits those living systems bring to our city. Despite the rain this year, we made the best of the day at Leslie Grove Park with City Councillor Fletcher and Janet McKay of LEAF. I look forward to next year!

Speaking of rain – please be reminded that bad weather and tree limbs can damage Toronto Hydro equipment. Be very cautious around our equipment, especially if it's damaged or compromised in any way. Also keep your pets well clear of equipment. You can call Toronto Hydro at 416-542-8000 – or call 911 - to report downed wires or damage.
Also, please don’t plant around our equipment. Vines growing near our power lines or equipment can create a safety hazard by increasing the likelihood of a power outage and even creating a potential path for electricity. Signs on our poles also create a risk for our crews who might need to climb the poles.
Trees and power lines can live in harmony provided proper planning and maintenance takes place. And while the rainy weather can sometimes seem like a nuisance to us, I’m sure our trees feel quite the opposite!
