While it’s the time of year to tip our hats to the successes we’ve had in 2012, we also need to look ahead to ensure the coming years will be as fruitful. Executive Director, Janet McKay, takes a moment to ask for your support to help make 2013 just as great.

Dear Friend,

As Founder and Executive Director of LEAF, I would like to thank you for helping grow our canopy - by planting trees and shrubs, donating your passion and enthusiasm, or taking the time to learn something new. Because of tree-loving supporters like you, we have been able to take the urban forest to new heights. I’m asking you to extend your contribution to the urban forest with a donation.

We need your help to continue our important work. This year we established the Urban Forest Fund at Tides Canada Foundation. Your generous donation to this fund is now eligible for a charitable tax receipt. With your donation, we will be able to continue improving city life one tree at a time by…

EAB Ambassador

Spreading the word with initiatives like our EAB (Emerald Ash Borer) Ambassador Program which has trained over 200 volunteers to protect the urban forest canopy in their neighbourhoods.

Using our tools and training, Holly Pagnacco and Chris Monster were inspired to get their own ash trees professionally treated, film an educational video and encourage their neighbours to plant new trees to replace those that will be lost.

Bayview Buckets street tree stewardship

Bringing our streets back to life with programs like our Tree Tenders Volunteer Training, which has educated and mentored over 560 citizens.

Helen Godfrey hated seeing the street trees in her neighbourhood struggle to survive. After graduating from Tree Tenders, she founded Bayview Buckets, one of our first Adopt-A-Tree projects. Now she engages local businesses to care for street trees, saving the city tax dollars by saving trees.

Giving trees a voice through advocacy. We combine forces with like-minded organizations and share our expertise when decision-makers are considering key issues.

We played a leadership role in the development of the Green Infrastructure Ontario Coalition, which released a report earlier this year calling on the provincial government to make wise investments in Ontario cities.

These are just a few examples of LEAF’s good work. Your support is crucial - donate today. Thank you for investing in your urban forest!
