Another Spectacular Leslieville Tree Festival!

June 19, 2019 by Lam Tran

We were back in the heart of Leslieville on Saturday, June 15th for the annual Leslieville Tree Festival, organized in partnership with Councillor Paula Fletcher, Toronto Parks, Forestry and Recreation and the Leslieville BIA (Business Improvement Area).

Families, friends, environmental organizations, businesses and many more gathered together in Leslie Grove Park to celebrate the urban forest!

This year, I had the pleasure of helping organize the Leslieville Tree Festival for the first time! In the days approaching the event, the weather was looking like it may take a turn for the worse, with showers and windy conditions forecasted all day. Thankfully, Mother Nature was on our side and the rain held off for the Festival!

There were plenty of activities, with something for everyone, including: face painting, crafts for kids, scaling a climbing wall, learning about local businesses and environmental campaigns and picking up a free native shrub! We were very excited to have shared this wonderful day with over 500 Festival attendees!

Here are my favourite highlights from the day.

Councillor Paula Fletcher, Barkley, vendors, staff and attendees celebrated the newest addition to the park, a white spruce, and gave it some Tree-L-C!

A great, big thank you to our event partners - Councillor Paula Fletcher, Toronto Parks, Forestry and Recreation and the Leslieville BIA! Thanks also to The Big Carrot and Loblaws for their generous donations. Sincere and heartfelt thanks to the performers, exhibitors, staff and volunteers who helped make the day an amazing success!
