We have so many great people who help with our work that we couldn’t pick just one Volunteer of the Year! Our Volunteer & Stewardship Coordinator, Vicki, presented Rita and Tim - both of whom have contributed countless hours as EAB Ambassadors - with a small token of our appreciation. They each received a beautiful serving platter, hand crafted out of local, urban wood by Storyboard Furniture.
And our volunteers are so amazing that they even help out at their own appreciation event! Joe checked people in at the door, Lucy helped out at our merchandise table and Johanne made sure that everyone got their tickets for our chance auction (to name just a few!).
Awesome prizes for the chance auction included items donated by Karma Tree, Sweet Pete’s Bike Shop, Ontario Science Centre, Toronto and Region Conservation, David Suzuki Foundation, Lorraine Johnson, Storyboard Furniture, VIA Rail Canada, Northern Skies Outpost Cabin, PLANT Architecture, The ROM, TIFF and St. Williams Nursery & Ecology Centre!
Beer and wine for the event were generously donated by Mill Street Brewery and Lifford Wine & Spirits. And we were pleased to have representatives from many of our supporting partners in the room, including Ontario Power Generation, York Region and Evergreen. Our Board members and staff had a wonderful time hosting and visiting with our BFFs!
It was inspiring to read the individual responses to the question “What did you do for the urban forest in 2013?” And check out our collective chalkboard vision for 2014!
