The race is on! Participating schools from the York Region Catholic District School Board are competing with others across York Region to get new trees and shrubs planted throughout their communities. The contest runs from March 30th to June 5th, and the three top-selling schools will win amazing greening gift certificates worth $1000, $500 and $250 – which can be used to plant new trees in their schoolyard and create more shade for students!

How does it work? Students are encouraging their family, friends and neighbours to plant trees and shrubs in their yards through LEAF’s subsidized Backyard Tree Planting Program. Additional rebates of $50 per tree and $5 per shrub are being offered to homeowners who participate in the program. Trees and shrubs must be planted in York Region in order to count for the contest.

LEAF offers two program options for York Region residents – our Full Service program and our Do-It-Yourself program. Click on the links below to learn more, and to sign up. If you’re signing up to support a participating school, make sure you tell us the name of the school when you register, so we can track each school’s sales and progress in the contest!
