LEAF hosted its second annual Summer Garden Party at the LEAF Learning Garden on June 28, 2017 to show our appreciation to volunteers, donors and staff and to celebrate our work to improve Toronto’s urban canopy.

Throughout the evening, the LEAF community gathered to learn, share, and mingle in a lovely outdoor setting. We experienced an incredible turnout of friends who came to enjoy the celebration, indicative of our growth over the past year and the ongoing commitment and activity of our supporters.

A mini tree tour was led by Brenna Anstett and garden tours were led by Erin MacDonald. It was a great opportunity for guests to dabble in their horticultural interests and learn something new about native plant varieties and planting techniques. The serviceberries were abundant on some of the trees and afforded the more intrepid guests a taste of the local harvest.

A special thanks goes out to several companies whose donations contributed to the evening, including Leah’s Bakery, World Class Bakers, CocoaLatte, Stubbe Chocolate & Pastries, and Fiesta Farms. Raffle prizes were kindly donated by MEC and Patagonia. The recipients are sure to enjoy and make good use of them! Finally, a very special thank you is given to Martin Kuwawiand Duetto Music for helping to create a warm and inviting atmosphere to the party with their musical performances.

This year’s Summer Garden Party was another excellent opportunity for us to reach out to the greater LEAF family and gather together to enjoy the warm weather and atmosphere of our community. The hard work and dedication shown over the past year deserve celebration, and we hope that next year’s Summer Garden Party will continue to be a testament to our collective urban forest passion!
