Toronto, ON — August 25, 2026 —National Forest Week is happening September 20-26, and LEAF (Local Enhancement and Appreciation of Forests) is inviting residents to connect with and contribute to the urban forest right where they live.

“Our mission is simple - to connect people with nature”, said Janet McKay, Executive Director at LEAF. “And fall is the perfect time to get involved.  From beautifying your own yard to volunteering in the community, there are many ways to show love to the urban forest."

Plant a tree at home with the help of arborist advice, subsided prices and planting/delivery services available from LEAF. 

Plant on public property at family friendly event. Connect with neighbours, get your hands dirty and contribute to healthier community.

Attend a virtual volunteer orientation and learn about more ways to get involved.

"Urban forests are all around us, in our yards, parks and neighbourhoods," said Janet McKay. "Let’s get out and experience them, learn about them and help them grow."
